Review of Free-to-Play Strategy Game: Utopia Kingdoms

Utopia Kingdoms is a very polished massively multiplayer online real-time strategy game presented by Jolt Online. The main goal, of course, is to build up your kingdom and rule this strange and magical fantasy world. You can also attack other players, join clans, and even marry off your princes and princesses.

The graphics for Utopia are better than most browser based games. You can tell Jolt really takes their job seriously, which is great!

1. VIP Game Coins - Every new player starts out with 1,000 game coins. You can use these to buy resources, improve your population or change your username. Plus, you can earn bonus coins by recruiting new players. Most other games are very stingey with their premium features, but Jolt seems to be confident that serious players will still pay for premium content.
2. Graphics - The graphics and character pictures are top notch. Navigating through the site is like reading a fantasy web comic. The design team has done a great job.
3. Hero Skills - In Utopia, you can train your heros skills to improve certain stats. For example, you can train War Hero and get a bonus to morale, or train Mystic and get a bonus to your wizards.
4. Ease of Play - Playing the game is simple. Even if you have little experience playing browser-based strategy games. The quests will help guide you through the various features of the game and give you valuable resources at the same time.
5. Community - The community is friendly and growing quickly. Luckily, the game is still new enough that you can have a major impact. The same day I signed up I was greeted by several players and asked to join a clan.

Resources

Like most strategy games, there are resources that you will need to collect in order to improve your kingdom. The four basic ones are food, wood, iron and gold. Build gold mines, iron mines, lumber mills and farms to collect these and level them up.

Races

There are nine playable races to choose from. Make the choice wisely because it can affect your gameplay. There are detailed descriptions available on the site. The nine races are Humans, Orcs, Trolls, Avians, Gnomes, Dwarves, Centaurs, Elves and Dark Elves.

Defense

Build guard stations to defend yourself from attack. This primarily preserves your resources from being plundered.

Army

Carefully consider the type of units you build. Each unit has strengths and weaknesses so over producing a particular unit can make you very weak to some attacks. Don't leave yourself open to an easy defeat.
